Company Overview
Founded in 2001, Cambria is the only producer of natural quartz surfaces in the United States. Cambria is a privately held, family-owned company with more than 450 employees. Headquartered in Le Sueur, Minn., the 150,000 square-foot production plant produces 225 tons of quartz surfaces per day, and is one of the few quartz surface plants in the world. Cambria-owned fabrication facilities are located in Minneapolis, Chicago, and Indianapolis. In addition, Cambria has a nationwide network of fabricator partners that share Cambria's commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
ChallengeCambria wanted a web site that would set them apart from their competitors, illustrate their high quality products, and allow the marketing department to update content, rather than filing a request with the company's IT department. Their current web site was not meeting these goals. Though outside consultants confirmed the web site needed improvements, they were unable to help Cambria make the necessary changes. Cambria needed a company that would listen to their concerns, provide them with recommendations, and explain how the recommendations fit Cambria's business model, and then, implement the best solution.
SolutionCambria chose James Tower to redesign their web site because of their extensive experience in Web design, their current understanding of best practices around navigation and usability, their formal approach to the project process, and their ability to take Cambria's vision and make it a reality.
To set Cambria apart from their competitors, James Tower's creative team developed a state-of-the-art, interactive application that allows Cambria to display their products in a way competitors in the industry had not tried. The Cambria Design Studio lets customers match color swatches for countertops, cabinetry, appliance finishes, paint, and more, to create personalized planning boards to help design spaces in their home with Cambria natural quartz countertops. The swatch concept was particularly relevant and meaningful in the application because of Cambria's emphasis on selling through design-oriented retailers who rely on swatches as their primary method of displaying options to their customers.
James Tower gave Cambria's marketing department control of the web site's content by recommending and implementing a content management solution. James Tower recommended Contribute software, which gave Cambria's team the power they needed to manage and control the information on the site. The marketing department now makes updates and changes to the web site's content without making requests through the IT department.
ResultsThe partnership between Cambria and James Tower was a success. The Cambria Design Studio put Cambria a step above their competition and showed the elegance and quality of their products. The new web site, now managed with a content management solution, allows the marketing department to make changes to the site daily rather than adding to someone else's "to do" list. Cambria continues to receive rave reviews from customers and dealers on their Design Studio application.
"We decided to work with James Tower because they came across as smart, sound, no-nonsense business people that would be easy to work with and could manage our project within the time and budget parameters we agreed to. They delivered to us on all these elements and confirmed to us that they were the right choice for the needs we had on this project. We have gotten a very positive response across our entire customer base on the design and usability of our redesigned Web site. It clearly was a significant improvement for us, both functionally and aesthetically."
