Building an E-Recruitment Network: Connecting with College-Bound Seniors in the Era of MySpace
September 2007
The growing influence of the Internet and social networking sites have “flattened” the traditional funnel, leaving colleges and universities with precious little time and data to build the kind of connection that leads to enrollment. How can campuses adapt to this new e-recruitment paradigm? We’ve been tracking the online behaviors and expectations of college-bound high school students for several years - and we have their answers!
Stephanie Geyer, Associate Vice President, E-Communications and Web Strategy, for Noel-Levitz, and Darren Wacker, Account Manager for the Higher Education Division at James Tower, shared their answers during our online event, "Building an E-Recruitment Network: Connecting with College-Bound Seniors in the Era of MySpace," on September, 13, 2007.
Topics that were discussed included:
- Social networking and e-recruitment: “hot” or “not”?
- What do students think about social networking and campus web sites?
- What influence does the “flattening’ of the funnel have on the behaviors of accepted students?
- What are the latest e-communications trends?
- How important is the Web to students’ college searches?
- What activities do students most frequently complete on college web sites?
- Five strategies to take away

2007 Technology in Student Recruitment Conference
June 2007
Our 2007 Technology in Student Recruitment Conference was held on June 26 and 27, 2007, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Our 2007 conference format was a bit different than in prior years. Instead of just being passive listeners, like at most conferences, we asked our attendees to be active participants. Following each session, the speaker, along with James Tower coaches, guided attendees through the development of action plans based on each session topic.
